How To Play with Chris Cote
The official How To Play trailer is narrated by Chris Cote and lives on YouTube as WrfVJL1SJYw. It is the first-party teaching film for farm chores, not a substitute for the Steam about paragraph. Watch it if you want the opening loop in motion, then come back to the farm page for tentacles, crops and livestock.
itch.io credits the project as made with RPG Maker, which explains the menu cadence you see in Attack / Ritual / Guard / Item. That engine credit is on the itch page, not on the Steam feature list. Both can be true at once: Steam sells the 1.0.0 Windows build, itch still hosts the v0.6.5 slice.
The How To Play film is also the right place to see watering, tentacles and the first harvest before you open combat. Chris Cote talks over that loop rather than over Nightmare tuning. After it, the farm page names corn, pumpkins, teeth, eyeballs and livestock ladders, and the combat page names Cozy through Custom. Use the trailer for motion; use those pages for the Steam nouns.

Steam and Chris Cote's launch post put the 1.0.0 full release on 10 September 2026. The US store price is $17.99 with a 10 percent introductory discount to $16.19. Copyright 2026 Ill-Advised Records, exclusively licensed to Kwalee Ltd. The launch trailer on Kwalee Gaming is the public film for that day, and the Steam news hub keeps the post.
Steam lists English with full audio plus French, German, Spanish (Spain), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Portuguese (Brazil). v0.11.17 added those localizations in the demo and documents a separate fan-translation autoload path that can pick up Japanese, Korean, Polish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian files if present. Steam Deck HQ notes that full radio audio stays English-only.
Cozy difficulty is the peaceful harvest path. Launch news also lists Easy, Normal and Hard, Nightmare, and a Custom mode whose stats cannot be changed later. Stone Tower achievements exist for each of those labels, including Custom Tower. Steam also flags Adjustable Difficulty as a store feature, which matches that in-game ladder rather than a hidden modifier.
Yes. Steam demo app 3195680 launched 7 October 2024 and remains listed beside the full game. itch.io still offers Welcome to Elderfield v0.6.5 DEMO.zip as a Windows RPG Maker vertical slice dated 20 November 2025. Those two downloads are different builds; the Steam demo is the one that later received v0.11.17.
Official news says Welcome to Elderfield is Steam Deck Verified. Steam Deck HQ, reviewing a Kwalee copy, agrees and notes English-only full radio audio. The full game is Windows on Steam with full controller support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, which is the Deck-facing feature set on the store page.
Official store copy lists die in your sleep among core activities, next to farming, romance and Old Gods. The achievement named Welcome to Elderfield is simply Die, and Groundhog Day / Tis But a Flesh Wound track 10 and 100 deaths. Community wiki pages describe sleep events and a midnight day-rollover separately; official copy does not publish that event table.
Steam lists seek the Old Gods as a core activity and says they wait on the challenge path. A God Shrine still offers blessings under a tentacled statue. Achievements Curious and Zealot track aligning to an Old God and to each Old God. Steam does not publish a complete god roster; four Emissary kill names are Daeus, Delvek, Kaal and Xxarteck.
